The Crimson Crypt: The Haunting of Room 314
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a crimson hue over the campus of St. Augustine University. The students of the Sigma Lambda fraternity had just moved into their new dormitory, The Crimson Crypt, a building that was said to be haunted by the spirits of students who had met untimely ends. Among them was Alex, a curious freshman with a penchant for the supernatural, and his friends, Tom and Sarah, who were as skeptical as they were excited about the prospect of living in such a place.
Room 314 was the most haunted of all the rooms in the dormitory. It was a small, dimly lit space with peeling wallpaper and a musty smell that seemed to permeate the air. The bed linens were threadbare, and the wooden floorboards creaked ominously with each step. Alex had heard tales of ghostly apparitions, unexplained noises, and even whispers that could only be heard in the dead of night.
The first night was uneventful, save for the unsettling feeling that something—or someone—was watching them. As they settled in, Tom and Sarah tried to brush off the eerie atmosphere, but Alex's eyes were wide with curiosity and a hint of fear.
The following night, the trio decided to stay up late, hoping to catch a glimpse of the ghost they had heard so much about. They sat on the bed, their faces illuminated by the glow of their phones, when Alex's phone buzzed with a text message. It was from a number he didn't recognize: "You're not alone."
Sarah's eyes widened. "Who is this?"
Tom chuckled. "It's probably a prank. Ignore it."
But the message kept coming, each one more chilling than the last. "You're in danger," it read. "Run, before it's too late."
The phone's screen flickered, and a cold breeze swept through the room. Alex felt a shiver run down his spine. "What the hell is going on?"
Tom and Sarah exchanged nervous glances. "Let's just ignore it," Tom suggested.
But it was too late. The room began to grow colder, and a faint whisper echoed through the space. "Run, Alex. Run!"
Sarah's eyes widened. "It's the ghost!"
Tom's face turned pale. "We should leave. Now."
As they scrambled to their feet, the room seemed to shrink around them. The walls seemed to close in, and the air grew thick with an oppressive presence. Alex's heart raced as he reached for the door handle, only to find it frozen in place.
"Help us!" Tom shouted, his voice trembling.
The whisper grew louder, more insistent. "You have to leave!"
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a figure emerged from the darkness. It was a young woman, her eyes wide with terror, her hair disheveled. She stumbled towards them, her voice a mixture of fear and desperation.
"Help me!" she cried. "They're coming!"
Tom and Sarah took a step back, but Alex moved forward, his curiosity overriding his fear. "Who are they?"
The woman's eyes met his. "The ones who took me. They're coming for me, and they're coming for you, too."
Before Alex could respond, the figure vanished, leaving behind a trail of cold air. The whisper grew louder, more urgent. "Run! Run for your lives!"
Tom and Sarah grabbed Alex's arms, pulling him towards the door. "We have to get out of here!"
But as they reached for the handle, the room seemed to shift around them. The walls closed in, and the air grew thick with fear. The whisper reached a fever pitch, and then, as suddenly as it had started, it stopped.
The door handle turned, and they burst out into the hallway, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the empty corridor. They ran, their hearts pounding in their chests, until they reached the stairs that led to the ground floor.
As they stumbled down the stairs, they heard a faint whisper behind them. "You can't escape. Not this time."
Tom, Sarah, and Alex exchanged a look of terror. They had to get out of the building, but the stairs seemed to stretch on forever. They reached the ground floor, only to find themselves surrounded by a crowd of students, all of them looking at them with wide eyes and open mouths.
"Did you see that?" one of the students asked, his voice trembling.
Alex nodded, his face pale. "We saw something. We have to get out of here."
But as they turned to leave, they found themselves trapped. The doors to the dormitory were locked from the outside, and the crowd of students began to close in on them. The whisper grew louder, more insistent.
"You can't escape. Not this time."
Tom and Sarah looked at each other, their eyes filled with fear. "We have to find a way out," Tom said, his voice barely above a whisper.
As they searched for an exit, the whisper grew louder, more desperate. "You can't escape. Not this time."
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet began to tremble. The floorboards groaned, and the walls seemed to close in around them. The crowd of students fell back, their faces contorted with fear.
"Run!" Alex shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
But it was too late. The ground beneath them gave way, and they were pulled into the darkness below. The whisper grew louder, more insistent, as they fell into the abyss.
The end.
